The scripture says in Hebrews 11:6,
“But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.”
This scripture is packed with a lot of vital information. First it tells us us how to please God. Then It tells us what to believe. Then it tells us what to expect if we diligently seek Him.
The scripture is clear, He’s a rewarder, that is, for those who would seek him. “Diligently seek him” is what it says, not seek Him for stuff, it says to diligently seek Him… for Him. We need to aim our faith at relationship building not at self-satisfaction or material gain. Direct our faith to relationship building with our Heavenly Father and aim towards that goal.
You must have faith in God on purpose not just because.
So, then, the question we need to reflect on is “what has been the purpose of my faith throughout my life?”. Be honest. Has it been to get things or to sooth your hurts? Has it been just to get you through rough times?
Or, has your faith been a matter of cultivating your relationship with the father? If it hasn’t been, it’s not too late to refocus your purpose for diligently seeking God. Remember, if you aren’t diligently seeking him you are really missing something.
In seeking Him for a relationship, you will find HIM!! All His nature, His Heart, His Love. All His attributes are there when you need them because you have been diligently seeking Him! Then you will find His peace. Then you will you find His healing. Then you will find His defense of you. Then you will find his provision.
He is the reward, because you seek God in His totality, you get everything, instead of just the stuff. Look at what he said to Abraham,
Genesis 15:1
“After these things the word of the Lord came unto Abram in a vision, saying, Fear not, Abram: I am thy shield, and thy exceeding great reward.”
I Am thy great and exceeding reward. Not what I can do for you, because I can do everything, but rather, I Am the reward. I am the blessing. Get to me and get blessed because of who I am.
This is still true to what God is saying to us today.
Jesus put it like this in Matthew 6:33,
“But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.”
If you look at the recent royal wedding, we know that when they both said “I do,” all that she had was his and likewise, all that he had, his royalty, power, titles, wealth, lands, fame, etc. was hers. His kingdom became her kingdom. But all of that occurred because she first came to KNOW HIM. They spent time together, they fell in love, all that followed was because of the relationship they had. This is true with God, diligently seek Him and everything will follow. By seeking Him you gain the things you were trying to reach individually without the benefit of relationship. Seek him today and enjoy.
