Have Faith in God By Pastor Kevin Stephens 0

We are people of faith.

At least, we want to be, which is evident by virtue of the fact that we’re here, reading this article on ReadyFaith.Com.  For us to be successful in our faith we must do something that is vital for our faith. It’s simple as this, “Have Faith in God”.

To understand this principal, let’s look at a very important scripture.   Jesus said in Mark 11:22-25,

“The next day as they were leaving Bethany, Jesus was hungry. Seeing in the distance a fig tree in leaf, he went to find out if it had any fruit. When he reached it, he found nothing but leaves, because it was not the season for figs.  Then he said to the tree, “May no one ever eat fruit from you again.” And his disciples heard him say it.  When evening came, they went out of the city.  In the morning, as they went along, they saw the fig tree withered from the roots.  Peter remembered and said to Jesus, “Rabbi, look! The fig tree you cursed has withered!”  “Have faith in God,” Jesus answered.  “I tell you the truth, if anyone says to this mountain, ‘Go, throw yourself into the sea,’ and does not doubt in his heart but believes that what he says will happen, it will be done for him.  Therefore I tell you, whatever you ask for in prayer, believe that you have received it, and it will be yours.  And when you stand praying, if you hold anything against anyone, forgive him, so that your Father in heaven may forgive you your sins.”

He points out to us that we are to believe, before, we see what’s expected coming to pass.

That can be difficult for us here in the 21st century.  We believe what we see.  We believe what we are shown by circumstances and by people.  We believe what we have been shown.  Mistakenly walking by sight.  Mistakenly walking by the stubbornness that will only allow our faith to be reactionary, based on the visual and on hearsay…not the witness of the Word of God or the testimony of successful saints.

Most importantly though despite all of this truth, is the very basic foundation of our faith, “Have Faith in God”.

To be a successful disciple of Christ, by faith, our world must be framed, formed, shaped, by the word of God and our understanding of who God is.  If that’s not the case, you are a disciple of the world or of a testimony of your experiences or thoughts. A disciple of “Bob” or somebody, not a follower of the true and living God.

Christ said, “Have Faith in God”.  This means our belief must be based on the Word of God, here’s some examples of people with faith in God.

Read all of Hebrews 11!

They all had one major thing in common.  Not that they had faith, but rather that they all had faith in God.

They believed he was faithful who had promised.

They believed that he was able to do what was promised.

They believed that as the creator he had the power.

They believed he was willing.

They believed that he had led, directed, promised or planned their expected outcomes.

They believed in HIM!!

I encourage you today, to seek after God, not for what He can do for you, but rather what you can learn of Him and how you can build your most holy faith in Him.
