The Truth About Absolutes By Pastor Shari Stephens 0

One of the most important things in life to me is having things that are sure.  Things we can count on.  Things that are facts, principles, or absolutes.  Unmovable. Unchangeable. Undeniable.

God Is.

He is the first “absolute”.

He is one of those wonderful truths we can trust in.  He is spirit, substantive, real and eternally alive, so we can count on him.

My definition of absolute is “ultimate, perfectly embodying the nature of a thing, perfect, unquestioning.”

“Absolutes” are necessary to life.  There are many principles or “things” he has put in place to frame our world.  In order for us to be successful,  we need to understand these “absolutes” and learn how they impact our world.

Gravity, which is considered a force in physics, is a fact or absolute.  What goes up must come down, gravity is always pulling at an object unless some force stronger breaks the pull.

Faith is. This is also an “absolute.”

Jesus said that if we had faith the size of a mustard seed, we could move a mountain.  That means that the size of your faith doesn’t matter, what matters is that you have Faith!  It is an absolute!  It is substantive.

The scripture says, “faith is the substance of things hoped for the evidence of things not seen”.  Faith may appear intangible but it actually manifest tangible things.

Let’s look again at our gravity reference.  You can’t see gravity, but you can see its effects.  You certainly can feel its impact on physical, tangible things.  Jump up; you will immediately come back down.  You have just experienced the impact of gravity on your world.

Faith is the same way.  Though you don’t see faith, faith impacts everything around us that we see, and it is so powerful that it can impact things we don’t yet see!  It is so dynamic that it can cause things that don’t exist to come to pass.

Faith is an absolute; if you believe, certain things will occur. It is not a “name it and claim it” principle. It is a powerful took that every believer has access to, that can make a difference in this world.  We can call into insistence the very Will of God in our lives and the world around us.  Because it is an absolute, we can trust the fact that it will always perform.  Faith will always work on our behalf and always have the dynamic power to do what it was designed to do.

Think about what Jesus said to one woman, “your faith has made you whole”.  Guess what, she went away healed because of her faith. (Mark 5:34.)

“If it’s you Jesus, bid me come to you (on the water)”, Jesus told Peter to come because Peter had faith that he could.  And guess what, he did walk on water too, until he began to doubt what he was doing.  Jesus said to him, “why did you doubt”, as he helped him back into the boat. Matthew 14:22-33

Peter had been walking with Jesus daily, seeing miracles first hand, casting out demons, listening to God’s own son.  His faith was stoked!!!! With the faith that he had, he got to do what not other human has done besides Christ, which was walk on water by faith.

Jesus said, in Mark 9:23, “…everything is possible for one who believes.”

Don’t fear faith; trust that it will always work.  It’s an “absolute.”  Understand it’s power, how it works and live by it!
