Are You Thwarting God By Pastor Shari Stephens 0

It is very had for us to believe that there are actually situations where God can’t work on our behalf.  This has nothing to do with His ability but is because of our own faith or expectation.

Matthew 13:58 says that,

“And he did not do many miracles there because of their lack of faith”.

Consider that for a moment, Jesus himself, didn’t do miracles.  That’s his nature, performing miracles is what he came to do, a part of who he was…but he could not “because” of their lack of faith.

Mark 6:5 says,

“He could not do any miracles there, except lay his hands on a few sick people and heal them.  He was amazed at their lack of faith.”

Jesus was limited, he was thwarted, and it amazed him that they lacked faith.  They didn’t even have faith that this man, who was renown for healing throughout the country, could do anything in their midst.  The passage says that he had grown up there, they thought they knew him.   Those limited reasons were why they chose not to have faith that he was possibly more than they could imagine.

They didn’t believe he could possibly be a healer because they knew his family; so he was not a healer to them.  Even though he headed hundreds of people in their very country during his 3 years of ministry; he couldn’t perform on their behalf because of their lack of faith.

Matthew 23:37 says,

“Jerusalem, Jerusalem, you who kill the prophets and stone those sent to you, how often I have longed to gather your children together, as a hen gathers her chicks under her wings, and you were not willing.

Here we see Jesus saying that he had often longed to do something good, something necessary and something comforting for his own people, but they were not willing.  That meant that he was unable to do it!  They stopped him from executing his plans of blessing, protection and comfort for his people.

What a tragedy to have a willing and able savior in your midst and not allow him to work on your behalf!

Father, our prayer today is that you search our hearts, root out any unbelief. Allow us to trust you the more, allow us to feed you the fuel of faith for your movement in our lives.  Allow us to create the perfect environment of faith that you may unleash all your blessing, healings, provision, protection and grace.  May the very air around us crackle from the intense faith we have in you.  Have your way dear Lord, as we untie your hands!!  Bless us to you’re satisfied.  In Jesus Name, Amen
